The art of selecting the right home.

Art of selecting right homeChoosing the right home can be exciting but also stressful if not downright daunting. There are a thousand and one things that you need to keep in mind while choosing one; but truth be told we hardly can remember them during our house hunting. Here I’ve tried to simplify that process by narrowing it down to 3 important questions that everyone should ask themselves. If you can answer these 3 questions, you will arrive at your answer. After all a house is often a reflection of oneself; if you know about yourself you will know what you want.

What kind of a home person are you?

There are some people who enjoy living in an apartment, where the compact lifestyle suits them. In fact apartments do actually reflect our modern life where the whole day is spent in hectic activity. I especially find the community living and the sharing a very comforting experience especially because urban life has become so isolated.   Plus who can forget the security and the added advantages of associated services?I am definitely an apartment person. While on the other end of the spectrum lies the house person, like my mother, who refuses to see the advantages of the apartment. For her some personal green space around the house is a huge thing. She also feels the privacy that she gets in her house can never be there in an apartment. She definitely has a point. Now you need to decide what sort of home person you are.

What are your secret desires?

Ask yourself what you have always wanted as an ultimate luxury in your house. It could be a Jacuzzi on the deck or a living room atrium. It could also be anything as simple as an extended closet or even puja room. It depends on your choice and also your budget. So know what you want and then choose carefully.

Where do you want to live?

Do you want to be right in the hub of all the action? Do you prefer a place which is densely populated with new developments? Here the public transport is easily accessible and a vibrant commercial area with restaurant, pubs are shopping centres are an added attraction. Some people on the other hand like to live a little away from the hustle and the bustle. They don’t mind the conveniences being quite a walk away and like depending on their private transport or even to risk a walk to get to the public transport. You will see that every question has atleast 2 choices which have their own pros and cons (much like the rest of the things in life). Once you know what you want you will see that looking for the right home is an enjoyable process. So enjoy your soul searching and house hunting and if you have anymore questions you feel are imperative feel free to share them here.
